Description

Title: Chanting Japan

Year Completed: 1999

Size: H95.5” × W70.5” / H242 cm × W179 cm

Material: old cotton, new cotton, Sashiko thread

Statement: Based on the Seminole technique using hexagons, which I preferred to divide into six smaller equilateral triangles, I purposely allowed many of the hexagons to overlap in order to create a feeling of depth. The background consists of different shades of aizome, again in equilateral triangles but grouped into different patterns.
