Material: old cotton (aizome, kusakizome), old silk (obi, kimono), new cotton (Japan, America)

Statement: On a short seaside vacation we saw a beautiful sunset reflected in the waves. When the sun disappeared it became dark very quickly, at which point we now saw the moon reflected in the waves, not as a large circular shape, but in narrow strips along wave crests so that the design of light constantly shifted. In the quilt this is viewed through a lattice fence (a kind often found in Japanese gardens).
