Statement: This quilt expresses my respect for the unchanging; we can see landfills and see huge chunks gouged out of mountains, but the sea and mountains remain, and will remain forever. The quilting designs come from wood grain patterns and from "kare sansui", a type of Japanese garden in which stones and rocks suggest the presence of flowing water.
