DescriptionTitle: Kizuna (Relationship) Series III: Rejoicing Year Completed: 2017 Size: H48” × W48” / H120 cm × W120 cm Material: antique cotton, new cotton (including hand-painted and hand-dyed), beads Techniques: Machine piecing, hand applique, hand sashiko, hand quilting Statement: Continuing the Kentucky Chain quilts: The traditional Kentucky chain pattern appears primarily on the borders, and in the center I used the Japanese sudare (a type of blind which allows some visibility) pattern. However the traditional pattern is vertical, but I have used it horizontally. The image suggests a joyful feeling prompted by a gentle Spring breeze. |
