DescriptionTitle: Land of Hopes Year Completed: 2004 Size: H36” × W36” / H91 cm × W91 cm Material: old cotton, new cotton (including Japan, Italy and American hand-painted), beads Statement: This was the fourth of the one-yard quilts which I made for exhibitions of the Manhattan Quilter's Guild. In an earthquake (which are frequent in Japan) buildings which otherwise are separate may overlap. But this might make an opportunity for the people in different buildings to come together and to know one another better, in the sense that good may come out of bad or even terrible things. Rounded shapes express the sense that feelings might become gentler. |
